Hi everyone! I’ve noticed more and more people joining Clubhouse since it’s now available on Android. Nice to see y’all across there.

Clubhouse is a great way to meet people from all over the world in the same field as you. It’s also a great way for you to connect with experts in your field and ask them direct questions. It also give you the opportunity to learn by just dropping into rooms and listening to the discussions. You can say it’s an ‘Audio LinkedIn’.

As someone who has been on the app for 6 months I have a few tips for those who are new.

• Start your own rooms.

If you know your stuff don’t be afraid to open your own rooms. People are always looking for rooms to join to meet and talk to others in their field. Just open the room and wait for them to come.

• Create your own group.

Similar to Facebook you can create groups where only members can participate in the discussions that happen in the group. This is a great way to filter out trolls and ensure quality discussions.

• Join groups that are in your field or geographical location.

This is a great way to meet people with similar interests or your next client. A simple search will help you here. There’s a Trini Posse group that has over 4,000 members this is a great place to start. Also, when you have joined a group you can open room in the group!

• Don’t be afraid to room hop.

There are numerous rooms going on at the same time. Some are informative, some are entertaining and some make no sense. If you don’t like what’s going on in a room you can just ‘leave quietly’

• Who you follow determines your experience.

In the ‘Hallway’ you see the rooms that those you follow are in and rooms that were opened in the groups you’re in. So if you follow persons who provide value you will see valuable rooms.

• Schedule your rooms and be consistent.

Randomly opening rooms are fine and great discussions can come from them but it’s best that you use the schedule option. This way your followers can look forward to your room and ensure their calendar is clear at that time. Remember this is a great networking tool and the best way to build a relationship is to be consistent so give up ur followers something to look forward to every week or everyday.

• Set a time limit on your rooms.

Any discussions that goes on for too long gets boring and sometimes out of hand. A time limit keeps the discussion interesting and gives the audience something to look forward to in the future.

• Discussing your field of interest everyday gets boring.

If you’re hosting rooms mix it up a bit. Discuss current events, play games or just talk about random things. As in real life when we’re building relationships it’s more than just having serious discussions so remember that in CH.

I know this was long but I wanted to help onboard those who are new to the platform and convince others who haven’t joined as yet. Looking forward to seeing y’all across there.
